Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Sunday wrote to his counterpart in Karnataka requesting his intervention to see that jailed PDP leader Abdul Nasser Ma’adani be given bail to enable him to attend his daughter's wedding.

The marriage of Ma’adani's daughter is scheduled to be held at Kollam March 10.

Soofiya Ma’adani, wife of Ma’adani, also expressed a wish that her husband attend their daughter's 'nikah' (wedding).

In a press conference held at the Ernakulam Press Club on Friday, Sufia Ma’adani had urged the intervention of the Central government and the Human Rights Commission for the release of her husband Abdul Nasser Ma’adani from jail for medical treatment.

“He should be released on bail for getting better medical treatment. He is suffering from visual ailments, with the retina of his right eye fully dysfunctional and that of the left eye partially affected. He is diabetic and hence, the doctors are unwilling to conduct surgery. He is also suffering from renal diseases. There are swellings on his legs and he is unable to walk,” she had said.
