Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Congress (B) chairman R Balakrishna Pillai Saturday asked the lone cabinet nominee of the party and his son K B Ganesh Kumar to follow the party policy line if he wished to continue in the Congress-led ministry.
Briefing to reporters the party decisions, Balakrishna Pillai said he would not budge from the stand that the Minister should function according to the party line.
“Our decision is not to close the way for consensus for now. We will wait till the next meeting of the UDF slated for April 2 before taking a final decision on his letter to the UDF leadership seeking the removal of Kumar for not toeing the party line,” Pillai said.
“He should act in accordance with party interests like nominees of other parties in the ministry," he said.
Saying that he expects that there will be a thaw in the strained relations between the party and the minister, Balakrishna Pillai said the minister would be allowed to continue if he agrees to work under the directions of the party.
Ganesh Kumar is the lone cabinet nominee of the Kerala Congress (B) headed by his father and veteran politician R Balakrishna Pillai in the ministry. Ganesh Kumar was at loggerheads with the party leadership for a long period following differences on various issues.
