Fahadh and Nazriya tie the knot

Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam actors, Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim got married on Thursday at the Al- Saj Convention Centre in Kazhakuttam here.

The star-couple's "nikah" ceremony took place at 12 noon in the presence of family members and close friends. Big names from the film industry like Suresh Gopi, Priyadarshan, Lissy, Ahaana, Dulqar Salman, Nedumudy Venu and Krishna Kumar graced the occassion. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, KPCC President V.M.Sudheeran, deputy leader of the opposition, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and other ministers also attended the wedding.

The entry to the venue was only by invitation. A huge crowd gathered outside the hotel to get a glance of the celebrity couple. After the ceremony, the newly wed gave a brief appearance to the media and fans.

Nazriya, the young actress whose Facebook profile likes crossed over five million, recently had her “haldi” ceremony the photos of which were published on her social networking page. The actress’ soon-to-be sisters-in-law had also organised a Muslim-style mailanchi kalyanam for her at a prominent hotel in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.

When asked about her acting career, Nazriya said that her fiance has given her all the freedom to decide on her acting profession post wedding. "Fahadh has asked me to decide my career post marriage. He wouldn't mind even if I continue acting but I really haven't given it a thought yet. I will finish all the films I have signed so far and will mull over whether to sign any new film after my wedding," said the bubbly actress.

Fahadh has taken a break from his work for the wedding. He will rejoin the locations of "Money Rathnam" on 27 August, five days after marriage and continue with shooting.

Fahadh made his debut as a hero in his director-producer father Fazil’s film Kaiyethum Doorath. The film bombed at the box office and Fahad went to US to persue his studies. He made a brilliant comeback in 2009 establishing himself as a powerful actor and has, since then, gone on to give numerous hits like Akam, Chaappa Kurishu, 22 Female Kottayam, Diamond Necklace and Annayum Rasoolum.

Nazriya entered the film industry as a child artist with director Blessy's Palunku in 2006 and turned into a lead actress with Mad Dad. She also has many other blockbuster movies.

The reception will be held on August 24 at Alappuzha.
