Cop suspended for defaming Manju Warrier on Facebook

Kochi: A trainee civil police officer has been suspended from service after he posted some derogatory comments against actress Manju Warrier on Facebook.

The Kochi city Police Commissioner suspended K M Renjumon, a trainee civil police officer with the Armed Reserve Camp in Kochi, pending further investigation, for posting lewd comments under a photograph of Manju, following a complaint by the actress.

As per reports, Manju had posted a photo of herself with actor Suraj Venjaramoodu as part of the promotion of her upcoming movie on the Facebook last week. The actor also shared this photo, under which the police officer wrote some derogatory comments.

Upon learning that the person was a police officer, the actor lodged a complaint with the police and an inquiry was initiated. The suspension came following the investigation report.

Earlier, there was another instance targeting the actress as screenshots of a Whatsapp chat of the actress with a director were circulated on social media, which she claimed were fake.

Interestingly, Manju is playing a cop in her next movie, "Vettah", which also stars Kunchacko Boban, Indrajith and Kaadhal Sandhya in the main roles.
