Kochi: '2018: Everyone is a Hero' is continuing its successful run at the box office after its fourth weekend. Collections hardly dropped from the third weekend and the movie is getting closer to the Rs 100 cr club.

The Tovino Thomas starrer has so far collected Rs 93 cores with Rs 11.30 crores being collected over this weekend. In terms of Pan India collections of a Malayalam film, 2018 is now only second to Pulimurugan's Rs 97.50 crores. In terms of box office collection in Kerala, the film based on the catastrophic flood that hit the state nearly five years ago has already surpassed the Mohanlal-starrer.

The original Malayalam version of the film has seen a small drop of 40% from the previous week. But the dubbed versions released this week kept the momentum going. The Telugu version grossed Rs 3.5 crore over the weekend.

While the film is not facing competition in the upcoming weeks, the OTT release scheduled on June 7th will slow down its box office collection. The customary practice is to remove a film from theatres after the digital release but there are speculations about exceptions being made for 2018.

The digital rights of the film have gone to Sony LIV which will stream the film in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. Initially, the producers were not ready to release the film on OTT because the box office collections were impressive. But the streaming platform convinced the makers with a whopping price.

The film stars Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali, Kalaiyarasan, Narain, Lal, Indrans, Aju Varghese, Tanvi Ram, Sshivada, and Gauthami Nair. It showcases the 2018 Kerala Floods' devastating situations and how people from various facets of life and regions came together to fight the calamity.

"It is an homage to the collective experience of the people of Kerala during the 2018 floods and to be able to bring it to the screen and see the kind of love it has been receiving has been a truly fulfilling experience. Through this film, we aimed to commemorate the heroism and courage shown by every individual during the catastrophe. With the film now set to stream on Sony LIV, more and more people get to witness our story and the extraordinary spirit of humanity that helped the state triumph," said director Jude Anthony Joseph.
