Abu Dhabi: Actor Abhishek Bachchan says working alongside his father, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, is always a pleasure. Together with Abhishek, they collaborated on the films "Bunty Aur Babli," "Sarkar" and "Sarkar Raj" by Ram Gopal Varma, "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna," a romantic comedy directed by Karan Johar, and "Paa," a film by R. Balki in which the elderly actor played the progeria-stricken son of Abhishek in the movie.

Abhishek said while they love working together, they want to be responsible with their choices.

"As actors, we both enjoy working with each other. But as actors, we also understand the responsibility towards our audience.

The father-son duo will next share screen in Balki's upcoming feature "Ghoomer".

The film is inspired by the story of Karoly Takacs, the late Hungarian right-hand shooter who won two Olympic gold medals with his left hand after he injured his other hand.

The megastar has been a constant in all the directorial ventures of Balki, including "Cheeni Kum", "Paa", "Shamitabh", "Ki & Ka", "Padman" and "Chup: Revenge of the Artist". He will also make a special appearance in "Ghoomer".

"Balki doesn't make movies without my dad, he is his lucky charm. So, even if it is for one shot (he will take him). It is a recurring theme, and it is the same in this movie," Abhishek, who has teamed up with the director for the second time after "Paa", added.

The 47-year-old said his first performance at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards on the hit chartbuster track "Kajra Re" in 2005 holds a special place in his heart.

Abhishek performed on the "Bunty Aur Babli" song with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and his father Amitabh Bachchan.

"We went to Amsterdam. I remember when Shamiak (Davar) was choreographing, we did the entire act and we ended it with 'Kajra Re'. The song is from the film 'Bunty Aur Babli' which was released before the week of the IIFA.

"We all thought that it would be wonderful to get Aishwarya and me to perform and it was a rather impromptu decision to pull up dad from the audience. It was wonderful. It is such a special and memorable moment. I am happy we could make it happen," he said.

The actor who will be hosting the 23rd edition of IIFA awards on Sunday at Yas Island here, said he believes in being dignified and respectful while on stage.

"There is a huge responsibility when you are hosting, we have to ensure that we celebrate our cinema in the most correct, dignified and respectful way possible.

"I am not somebody who likes to take digs at other people. I find that incorrect, so you won't see too much of that. Do stuff that is entertaining, keep it light and keep the audience engaged."

On the film front, Abhishek will also be seen in Nikkhil Advani-backed Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil comedy-drama "KD" and Shoojit Sircar's untitled slice-of-life drama, which will start shooting in August.

"Shoojit is a dear friend. I have known him since the start of his career when he was in advertising. I feel happy and honoured to work with him. I have a lot of love and respect for him," he added.
