Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone came out in the open about her mental health issues in 2015 shocking her fans, with many asking in dismay how come she got it.

Deepika was busting the myth surrounding mental health issues that people who are better off and famous never fall prey to depression and other mental health issues.

Her gutsy declaration of her situation helped many others face their issues boldly seeking treatment.

Deepika Padukone, an advocate of mental health awareness, is now working on her mental health foundation Live Love Laugh's rural community mental health program ahead of World Mental Health Day on October 10, according to NDTV.

She told NDTV about the importance of the caregiver in fighting mental illness.

Her mother was pivotal in helping her face the condition after having identified Padukone's symptoms.

The actor said had her mother not identified her condition, she would not have been around today.

She underlines the crucial role that the family should have in helping somebody facing depression or other conditions.

She stressed the roles her mother sister played as caregivers in her personal journey fighting the illness.

The actor narrated an episode from her life during the time of her mental crisis when her parents were living in Bengaluru.

Every time she met her parents she would put on brave face, acting to convince them that everything was alright—until one day she broke down.

Her mother quickly identified what was happening to her and the discovery changed her life for better.

Deepika will soon pair with Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan to be hitting threatres on January 25.
