Seoul: South Korean boy band BTS members will be enlisting for the country's mandatory military service. There have been efforts to delay the process as Jin, the oldest member, has put off enlistment as much as possible.

According to BIGHIT Music, Jin has decided to cancel his request to delay his military service. He will be enlisting by the end of the month for 18 months as per the government's demands. Other members are also planning to follow suit soon.

The agency shared the news on the fan community platform Weverse and wrote: "BIGHIT MUSIC is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfill their military service. After the phenomenal concert to support Busan's bid for the World Expo 2030, and as each individual embarks on solo endeavors, it's the perfect time and the members of BTS are honored to serve."

The group is planning to reconvene as a group in 2025 after finishing military service.

BTS is known for producing music aimed at peace and breaking stereotypes. Earlier this year, there were conversations about what it would mean for them to work in the military. The group has also announced a hiatus so that they can work on their unique interests and solo projects. Many speculated that the break is due to tensions running high over military enlistment.
