Los Angeles: The highly anticipated film Barbie had its Los Angeles premiere on July 9, 2023, attracting a star-studded crowd. Director Greta Gerwig took the opportunity to share a heartfelt message during the event, praising her boyfriend and co-writer Noah Baumbach and expressing her support for the ongoing writer's strike in Hollywood.

Speaking at the premiere, Gerwig acknowledged Baumbach's absence, stating that he was not present at the event because he is passionately supporting the fight of the Writers Guild of America. Describing Baumbach as her "partner in love and art," Gerwig emphasised his significant contribution to the film, saying, "From the first line to the last cut, this movie is his as much as anyone's."

Highlighting the importance of writers in the entertainment industry, Gerwig affirmed, "Nothing in Barbie happened without him, and nothing in Hollywood happens without writers." Her comments at the premiere reflect her solidarity with the writers amid the ongoing WGA strike.

The star-studded LA premiere at the Shrine Auditorium saw the presence of the film's cast, along with various artists and singers involved in Barbie The Album, the film's original soundtrack. Gerwig, adorned in the signature pink, epitomised the Barbie spirit at the event.

Among the other notable attendees, Margot Robbie, who portrays the main character Barbie, has garnered attention for her captivating promotional looks throughout the campaign. The actress has paid tribute to different Barbie dolls by recreating their iconic looks in her promotional style. At the premiere, Robbie stunned in a glittery black outfit, reminiscent of the 1960 Solo in the Spotlight Barbie.

Ryan Gosling, who plays the leading male character Ken, made a style statement in a pink Gucci suit. The red carpet also witnessed appearances from Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, and America Ferrera, among others.

Barbie is scheduled to release in theatres on July 21, 2023, coinciding with the release of the full soundtrack album. Eilish's upcoming song for the film, titled "What Was I Made For," is set to release on July 13.
