Malayalam filmmaker passes away days before his debut release

New Delhi: Malayalam filmmaker Joseph Manu James passed away days before the release of his debut film 'Nancy Rani'. The director, who was on treatment for hepatitis, died on February 24. He was 31, NDTV reported.

His funeral was on Sunday.

Actor Aju Varghese paid his condolences by taking to Instagram. Aju had worked with Manu James in 'Nancy Rani'. "Gone too soon, brother. Prayers," he wrote.

Actress Ahaana Krishna, who also worked with the filmmaker, reacted to his demise. "Rest in peace Manu! This shouldn't have happened to you," she wrote on her Instagram story.

Joseph Manu James debuted in films as a child artist in the 2004 film "I am Curious", directed by Sabu James. The deceased filmmaker also worked as an assistant director in Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi film industries.
