Not joining politics; support my cinema: Kantaras Rishab Shetty

Bengaluru: Rishab Shetty, the director of Kannada hit 'Kantara', said that he will not join politics, appealing to fans to support his cinema, IANS reported.

He was reacting to a tweet by a journalist that he was joining politics. He requested the person to state that it was false news and asked him to clearly say that the day was April 1.

"Few people have already projected me as a supporter of a certain party. I will never go into politics," he said.

However, one of his fans said that he should join politics and added that he would support the director there. Shetty replied that he does not need support in politics but for his cinemas.

"Please support my cinemas, that is more than enough," he appealed.

After the release of Kantara, there were rumours that Shetty was going to join a certain political party. He had appealed then to movie goers not to mock the screams of God shown in the Kantara movie, and he visited temples too, indicating his support to some party and he might come to politics.

He has made the concrete statement that he will never join any party or enter politics, shutting out all the rumours. IANS learned that Shetty is working on the Kantara franchise since there are high expectations at the pan India level.
