Las Vegas, US: Pop star Britney Spears said that she was ‘backhanded in the face’ and knocked to the ground by a security guard of French basketballer Victor Wembanyam on Wednesday night in Las Vegas, reports say.
The incident occurred at around 8.30 pm when the singer, her husband Sam Asghari and others were entering the Catch restaurant here.
She approached the 19-year-old French star, reportedly NBA’s tallest active player, when she spotted him to congratulate him on his success.
She wanted to ask Wembanyama for photo and tapped him on his should as it was very ‘ loud’ there.
Spears related that the player’s security guard then backhanded her in the face
She also added that she had not grabbed the basketballer from behind but ‘simply tapped him on the shoulder’.
Earlier on Thursday, Wembanyam said that the singer had ‘grabbed in him from behind.’
The basketballer did not see her face but understood his security pushed somebody away.
The singer, as reported by The Guardian, said her glass were knocked off her face in the impact of the ‘ embarrassing’ incident.
She said she usually gets mobbed by people all the time but her security team never hit any one of them.
The security guard reportedly apologized to the singer, but her team filed a police report in which they alleged ‘battery’.
‘The incident has been documented on a police report and no arrest or citations have been issued. No further details will be provided at this time,’ Police reportedly said on Thursday.
