Priyanka Chopra entered Hollywood after appearing in the 2015 television series Quantico, but long before that, PC appeared in a few music videos while attempting to break into the world of international music. With songs like "In My City" and "Exotic," PC tried to show off her singing abilities, but she ultimately turned her attention to her acting career in the West. In a recent interview, Priyanka discussed her reasons for moving to the West in the first place, even though she was one of the best actors in Hindi films at the time, Indian Express reported.

The Citadel actress revealed that she felt "cornered" in Bollywood while speaking with Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert. She was up against some resistance because she was being passed over for movie roles and because she had "beef" with some industry insiders. Anjula Acharia, her manager, stepped in to save her at that point. Acharia contacted her after spotting her in a music video to inquire about her interest in pursuing a music career in the US.

Since she was trying to find methods to get away from Bollywood, Priyanka revealed that she seized the chance with both hands. She shared, “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.”

She added, “This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn’t want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require groveling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn’t feel like I wanted to do it.”

In a previous interview, Priyanka talked about how some individuals in the Indian film business did their best to prevent her from working. “I have had people wanting to jeopardise my career, take away from my work, make sure I wasn’t cast just because I was doing well in what I was doing,” she shared during her appearance on The Ranveer Show.

Citadel, the highly anticipated new series from the Russo Brothers, will be released soon, says Priyanka Chopra. She and Richard Madden play spies in it. Starting on April 28, you can watch the episodes on Prime Video. The actor is anticipated to make a comeback in Hindi film with Jee Le Zara, directed by Farhan Akhtar and featuring Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
