Ranveer Singh and Basil Joseph to begin Shaktimaan shoot post Don 3

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, slated to lead in Don 3, has reportedly been cast as the protagonist in Basil Joseph's Shaktimaan.

The Ram-Leela actor is expected to commence shooting for the Basil Joseph directorial after wrapping up Don 3, with the film's production scheduled to kick off in May 2025.

A source close to the actor revealed, "Ranveer will undergo workshops to get into the part of Don. He considers this film as a big responsibility as he will be the third generation of Don after Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Farhan is targeting to take Don 3 on floors from August/September 2024."

Following Don 3, Ranveer is set to step into the shoes of Shaktimaan. The script, meticulously crafted over three years, is said to do justice to the legacy of Shaktimaan. Basil Joseph will direct the film, with Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala serving as producers, Pinkvilla reported.

Ranveer Singh's recent appearance was in Karan Johar's directorial venture, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Despite securing a nomination in the Best Actor category at the Filmfare Awards, the actor did not clinch the award.

The script for "Shaktimaan" has been meticulously crafted over three years to ensure it honors the revered legacy of the character. With Basil Joseph steering the ship and backed by Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala as producers, expectations are soaring high for this cinematic spectacle.

Hints of this collaboration surfaced back in September 2023 during an Instagram live session hosted by Tovino Thomas. Amidst celebrations for his film "2018" being selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars, Tovino casually mentioned conversations with director Basil Joseph about Ranveer Singh joining forces with them.

Though the project remained unnamed at the time, the excitement was palpable as Tovino hinted at something big on the horizon.

Ranveer himself added fuel to the fire by joining the live session, sending his regards from Mumbai. Tovino acknowledged Ranveer’s presence and expressed admiration, dropping subtle hints about the impending collaboration.

While specifics remained under wraps, it was clear that something extraordinary was brewing between Ranveer Singh and Basil Joseph.
