Jacqueline Fernandez's lawyer today claimed the actor is a "victim of conspiracy". The statement came a day after a charge sheet against the actor in a money laundering case.

In a statement, the 36-year-old actor's lawyer Prashant Patil said, "She has always cooperated with the investigation agencies and attended all the summons issued to date."

"She has handed over all the information to the best of her ability to the ED. The agencies have failed to appreciate that she was cheated and conned into this matter. She is a victim of a larger criminal conspiracy," he added.

The lawyer also clarified that Jacqueline has not received any official copy of the complaint yet.

"We have received information about the complaint being filed by the Enforcement Directorate only through media reports. There is no official communication from the Enforcement Directorate or the Hon'ble Court. My client has not received any copy of the complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate. However, if the media reports are true, then it's unfortunate that my client has been arraigned as an accused in the said case," Patil was quoted as saying by ETimes.

Meanwhile, Patil said that the actress will move to the Patiala court today to ask for a copy of the charge sheet filed by ED. "We will apply for a certified copy of the complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate. It's the right of the accused, so we are hopeful to get it," he told ETimes.

Jacqueline Fernandez has been named in a supplementary charge sheet filed in a Delhi court by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing a money trail in the extortion case linked to Chandrashekar.

Chandrashekar was arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly extorting ₹215 crores from Aditi Singh and Shivinder Singh, the former promoters of pharmaceutical giant Ranbaxy.

Jacqueline Fernandez, known for films such as "Kick", "Bhoot Police'' and most recently "Vikrant Rona", is the only accused named in the latest charge sheet.
