Actress Sonam Kapoor recently opened up about her experiences with motherhood, sharing insights into the challenges she faced, including the common feeling of 'mom guilt.'

Kapoor and her husband, businessman Anand Ahuja, welcomed their baby boy, Vayu, in 2022.

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Kapoor spoke candidly about the transformational journey of motherhood. She expressed how becoming a mother has allowed her to embrace her true self. Kapoor said, "I was pushed to a point where I had to accept myself because my whole body changed, my mental makeup changed. This is the time I need to understand otherwise I’m going to go down a dark hole. So, I just had to learn to be okay with who I am and where I am in my life.”

Addressing the topic of 'mom guilt,' Kapoor emphasized that it's a universal experience. She stated, "Whether you’re a stay-at-home mother or a working mother, everyone goes through mom guilt. Whether you’re doing a load of laundry or you’re cooking in the kitchen or you’re doing an interview with someone, there will always be guilt."

Furthermore, Kapoor challenged the stereotype surrounding working mothers. She refuted the misconception that working mothers prioritize their careers over their children. Kapoor clarified, "It’s not true. We care about our children enough to want to work."

Earlier this year, on January 1, 2024, Kapoor shared a reflective Instagram post looking back at 2023.

In the post, she acknowledged the challenges and joys of parenthood and also touched upon her husband's health. Kapoor wrote, "Understanding that I had changed drastically emotionally, physically and spiritually and that comes with pain, acceptance and eventually exhilaration." She added, "Starting work again while supporting my husband in his work and his exponential growth at work, while trying to spend time with my precious family and incredible friends has been the most tough, amazing, fulfilling and enriching year."

On the professional front, Kapoor was last seen in the crime thriller 'Blind' in 2023. She revealed plans to work on her next feature film, 'Battle for Bittora,' scheduled for 2024.
