Both Tapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap have been outspoken critics of the Narendra Modi government.

Mumbai: Actress Taapsee Pannu's latest film 'Haseen Dillruba' has been receiving mixed reviews from critics and fans, for its depiction of 'toxic masculine love'.

As a fresh wave of criticism looms against the actress for endorsement of poisonous conduct and misogyny in the film, Taapsee Pannu herself is seen responding to the critics in social media.

The filmmaker and municipal councillor Yasmin Kidwai's tweet about the film said "it's the story & the narrative which makes it absolutely impossible to bear -toxic masculine love -a woman needing to prove herself in the kitchen while being denied any rights for herself -& making domestic violence OK in the name of love or marriage -it's not OK -it is NOT OK to harm women -emotionally -physically or in any form in the name of Anything !! Can we please stop glorifying love & violence #Bollywood #HaseenDillruba",

While responding to the above comment, the actress wrote, "If we want movies to not mirror the modern society we reside in and consistently present what's is the perfect world to be in then I consider we really should quit boosting voice in opposition to all those powers way too that suppress the voice of cinema when actuality is projected."

Also, commenting on the film's happy ending which shows films characters Rani and Rishu get away with a criminal offence, Taapsee said: "I really don't assume demonstrating a flawed character accomplishing mistaken to a different flawed character is referred to as glorification. N if at all u do that, the repercussions of that are also glorified. It's your perception that would make man the hero, mine made the two people experience for their mistake."

Haseen Dillruba, directed by Vinil Mathew was launched on Netflix on Friday and also features Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane.
