Varun Dhawan and Atlee's untitled action entertainer gets release date

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan and acclaimed Tamil director Atlee are gearing up for a collaboration in an upcoming action entertainer. While the film's title is yet to be revealed, the makers took to social media to announce its highly anticipated release date.

The film will hit theatres on May 31, 2024. Expressing his excitement, Varun shared the release date on his Instagram story and wrote, "#VD18 May 31st, 2024 in theatres."

A source close to the project told Pinkvilla, "While the story is high on emotion and drama, action is at the forefront, and the team aims to create stylish and larger-than-life sequences for Varun. The film is set to be shot over a period of four to five months, with a target of releasing it as a grand summer spectacle in 2024, captivating audiences in theatres worldwide." The source also mentioned that the female lead and antagonist roles would be finalised soon.

The film will be directed by Kalees.

It was announced in May 2023 that Varun Dhawan is joining forces with Atlee and producer Murad Khetani for a thrilling action-packed venture. Varun has Bawaal in the pipeline, a Nitesh Tiwari directorial that also stars Janhvi Kapoor. Bawaal is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in July 2023. He is also part of the highly anticipated project Citadel alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Currently occupied with his commitments to Raj & DK's Citadel, Varun is expected to commence shooting for Atlee's project in early August.

Atlee is currently busy with the post-production work of his film Jawan, which marks his first collaboration with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, generating significant anticipation among the audience. The film's release, initially scheduled for June 2, has been postponed to September 7. Nayanthara and Sanya Malhotra also feature prominently in the movie.
