Hyderabad: The Telugu film Kushi, starring top actors Samantha and Vijay Deverakonda, had a relatively modest opening weekend at the Indian box office, accumulating approximately Rs 43 crores. However, it had a good run at the international box office.

It earned around USD 1.80 million internationally, resulting in a total worldwide box office gross of Rs 60 crores.

While "Kushi" performed better in urban centers like Hyderabad and Bengaluru, which are typically strong markets for Vijay Deverakonda-starrers, it also saw a drop in these areas on Sunday. Tamil Nadu delivered well with over Rs 4 crores in collections for the weekend. However, Andhra Pradesh significantly underperformed, with just Rs 15 crores in weekend collections.

The breakdown of Kushi box office collections in India over the weekend:

Friday: Rs 17.25 crores

Saturday: Rs 13 crores

Sunday: Rs 13.25 crores

Total: Rs 43.50 crores

The film incurred high distribution costs of Rs 38 crores in the Telugu states. While Nizam has a chance for recovery, Andhra Pradesh is expected to suffer substantial losses, with only a 35% recovery in the first three days.

Territorial breakdown of the first-weekend box office collections of Kushi:

Nizam: Rs 18.25 crores (Rs 9.75 crores share)

Ceded: Rs 3 crores (Rs 2 crores share)

Andhra: Rs 12.25 crores (Rs 6.50 crores share)

AP/TS: Rs 33.50 crores (Rs 18.25 crores share)

Karnataka: Rs 4.50 crores (Rs 2.10 crores share)

Tamil Nadu: Rs 4.25 crores (Rs 1.85 crores share)

Rest of India: Rs 1.25 crores (Rs 50 lakhs share)

Total: Rs 43.50 crores (Rs 22.50 crores share)

The romantic comedy has received mixed reviews from critics. It follows the son of an atheist falling in love with the daughter of his father's rival who is a spiritual person.
