Actor R Madhavan said that he is excited to watch Saif Ali Khan in the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit film Vikram Vedha. Khan will be playing police officer Vikram, the role Madhavan essayed in the original.

Hritik Roshan is set to play Vedha in the neo-noir action thriller. While Madhavan only has praises for Hritik, he is more interested in seeing whether Saif Ali Khan plays Vikram more convincingly than he did.

He was asked about the remake of one of his career bests during an interview with Bollywood Hungama. The 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect' director said: "I do not want to give you a very diplomatic answer. Hrithik Roshan is awesome looking, but I am really looking forward to Saif's performance because he is playing me."

He added that he has a feeling that Khan will make the role more convincing.

Saif's first look as Vikram was released recently and Madhavan had tweeted that he cannot wait to see the film. "It is going to be a party in the theatres. Awesome look Saif... Go get Vedha".

The Tamil film released in 2017 starred R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi (as Vedha, a gangster). It was inspired by the folktale of Vikram and Betaal. After Vikram tracks down Vedha, he tells the police officer to change his perception of good and evil. Directed by the husband and wife duo Pushkar and Gayathri, the film received positive feedback from critics and the audience.

The Hindi remake is also directed by Pushkar–Gayathri. It stars Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf, and Yogita Bihani in supporting roles. The film will hit the theaters on September 30, 2022.
