In India, thousands of farmers are ending their lives each year. They live in fear. Farmers' suicides are a matter of grave concern.
Skymet Weather, a weather forecasting company, has recently released a new advertisement on its services to farmers. They claim it is part of their initiatives to make sure that farmers receive accurate weather information so that their crops and their lives can be protected.
It is a story of a little girl who lives in the constant fear that her father, like so many of her friends', will commit suicide.
The ad says the inconsistency in weather prediction is the sole reason for farmer suicides despite the many reasons behind the issue. Though it seems to be a well-made and sensitive film addressing the farmers’ cause, the short film is facing allegations that the weather forecasting company’s new ad is trivialising the issue for commercial gain.
