703 selected for Haj from Kerala

Malappuram: As many as 703 Haj applicants from the State were selected for this year’s Haj pilgrimage on Saturday.

Minister P.K Kunjalikutty inaugurated the draw of lots.

As many as 4, 930 applicants were already selected in two reserved categories — those above 70 years of age and those who had applied unsuccessfully for the past four years consecutively.

Haj Committee officials said the State had a Haj quota of 5, 633 seats.

The total number of applications for this year’s Haj from Kerala was 65,165.
