Jaipur: An Indian army officer, who fell into a honey trap and shared confidential strategic information about to a woman spy employed by Pakistan, got arrested, PTI reported, citing a top intelligence official's account.
The arrestee, identified as Pradeep Kumar, has been charged under provisions of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and further investigation into the matter is going on, the official informed.
Kumar was a gunner and was posted in Jodhpur. He was in contact with a woman agent of the Pakistani intelligence agency and thus was under surveillance for many days.
The source said that the man contacted the woman through Facebook and WhatsApp and shared confidential information. The officer informed that the accused was taken to custody on May 18 for interrogation and arrested after that. Kumar, a native of Uttarakhand, was recruited only three years ago.
According to the source, Kumar received a call from the woman, who identified herself as a military nurse working in Bangalore, six months ago. Later, she seduced Kumar, and they met in Delhi. She proposed to get married to him, and once Kumar fell into the trap, she tricked him into parting with confidential information and documents through social media.
