New Delhi: The Congress party alleged on Sunday that Intelligence Bureau is grilling people who interacted with Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, IANS reported.

Congress General Secretary, in-charge Communications, Jairam Ramesh, tweeted, "IB has been interrogating a number of people who have interacted with @RahulGandhi during #BharatJodoYatra. The spooks have been asking all sorts of questions & also wanting copies of memoranda submitted to him. There's nothing secretive about the Yatra, but clearly, G2 are rattled!"

In another attack on the government, Ramesh alleged that the Centre uses the G20 presidency for election purposes.

"India was originally slated to take over the presidency of G20 for the year 2022. Instead in late 2020 the Indian Govt asked Italy to take over for 2021 and Indonesia for 2022 so that India's turn comes in 2023." Ramesh tweeted.

"Talk about milking events for election purposes.," he said.

The Prime Minister, during his monthly 'Mann ki Baat', said: "This year India has also got the responsibility of chairing the G-20 group. I had also discussed this in detail last time. In the year 2023, we have to take the enthusiasm of G-20 to new heights; make this event a mass movement."

The BJP is considering India's G-20 presidency as a major achievement and has chalked out programmes linked with it to apprise people about the country's "growing global influence under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi".

On Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress had earlier alleged that the government was trying to stop the Yatra, during which Gandhi interacted with civil society and other local groups.

Earlier, Congress had alleged that the government was trying to stop the Yatra through various gimmicks. They even alleged that the BJP led-Centre is using "Covid drama" to halt the Yatra after Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya wrote Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, asking them to follow Covid protocols during the march.

The Yatra reached Delhi on Saturday and is on break till January 2, and will resume on January 3.
