Amaravati: Eleven members of the main opposing party, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), in Andhra Pradesh were suspended for a day from Legislative Assembly. The leaders allegedly disrupted the regular proceedings of the Assembly, PTI reported.

Following the disruptions, an infuriated Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy lashed out at the TDP leaders and demanded them to behave in a civilised manner, letting the House smoothly run its business.

The protesting members did not heed his words but raised slogans demanding an explanation on the mysterious death of 18 people in the West Godavari district. But the, Legislative Affairs Minister Buggana Rajendranath initiated a suspension motion against the MLAs. The motion was conducted through a voice vote, and the TDP members got suspended and left the House.

Five TDP MLAs were suspended on Monday from the Assembly over the same issue. The Budget session of the state is going on and will end only on March 25.

Chief Minister Reddy repeated on Tuesday that the deaths in West Godavari district were out of natural causes instead of illegal arrack, claimed by TDP. "Many of the bodies were cremated, and there was not a case registered. In one case where there was some suspicion, the authorities exhumed the body and conducted post mortem. Why would we do that if there was anything wrong," he asked.

Jagan said that in Jangareddygudem, municipality, there is a police station, Ward Secretariate and even women police. How is illicit distilling of arrack possible in such a place, he asked. He advised the TDP members to use their brains and think logically.
