40 passengers on Chennai-Pune train fall sick after consuming food

New Delhi: As many as 40 passengers on board Bharat Gaurav train travelling from Chennai to Pune, fell sick allegedly due to food poisoning, after consuming food.

The passengers reportedly complained of dizziness, uneasiness and stomach-related complications after eating food. They were taken off the train at Pune railway station and are being given treatment, a railway official said.

According to a Times of India report, the railway officials at the Pune station received the information about the incident around 10. 45 p.m.

Passengers were also admitted to Sassoon General Hospital for further treatment.

As per the sources in the Ministry of Railways, a private player is operating the service. The ministry will take action against the company, news agency ANI quoting sources said.

The cause of food poisoning has not been confirmed yet.

The samples of food are being taken for further investigation. Further investigation is underway.
