New Delhi: As international pressure mounts up, the Central government has decided to pull down the internet ban placed in Jammu and Kashmir.

The services are being restored after more than 18 months since it was banned on 4th August 2019, after Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act 2019 was passed in the parliament to strip the region of its previous autonomy.

Kashmir has been site of the longest internet shutdown in any democracy across the world.

Even though the Supreme Court ruled in January 2020 that indefinitely suspending the internet was illegal, the shutdown was continuing till this date.
