54 Trains cancelled on Ambala-Amritsar route as farmers continue protest for fourth day

Farmers, continuing their protest for the fourth consecutive day, have caused the cancellation of 54 trains on the Ambala-Amritsar route as they remain seated on the tracks at Shambhu railway station in Punjab's Patiala district.
These protestors are demanding the release of three farmers who were arrested by the Haryana Police during the ongoing agitation. "A total of 54 trains on the Ambala-Amritsar route were cancelled on Saturday due to the farmers' protest," railway officials confirmed.
The ongoing protest has disrupted the schedules of 380 trains over the past three days, leading to inconvenience for passengers.
Protesters, under the joint banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), have been demonstrating at Shambhu in Patiala district. Their protest initially began on Wednesday, when they blocked the tracks on the Ambala-Ludhiana-Amritsar route at Shambhu, near the Punjab-Haryana border, to demand the release of the arrested farmers.
Sarwan Singh Pandher, a farmer leader, stated, "The protest will continue until the three farmers are released."
The 'Delhi Chalo' march, led by the SKM (Non-Political) and KMM, aims to press the government to fulfil their demands, which include a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.
Since February 13, farmers have been stationed at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana, following a halt to their march by security forces.
