In Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi, a 30-year-old driver who lost control of his vehicle and struck a cyclist was allegedly lynched.

A Dalit, Munshi Gautam, was drunk when he lost control of his tractor and struck a cyclist in Berwa Paharpur village.

When Gautam tried to flee, locals caught him and executed.

Anil Kumar, Superintendent of Police, said the suspect accelerated in an attempt to escape, but hit a tree and fell. "The crowd caught hold of him and physically assaulted him. Later, he was taken to the community health centre where doctors declared him brought dead," he said.

He said that a case had been filed against one Jai Shankar Pandey and three unknown individuals. Pandey had been arrested, he added.
