New Delhi: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad students at Jawaharlal Nehru University today prevented Muslim students and other leftwing students from eating anything non-vegetarian on Ram Navami.

There are also allegations that ABVP members assaulted the mess secretary of the Kaveri Hostel.

ABVP, in turn, claimed that they were prevented from conducting puja on Ram Navami.

There have also been reports of stone-pelting inside the campus, according to various Twitter accounts.

Police Deputy Commissioner (Southwest) Manoj C tells PTI that some students have been injured.

There is no violence as of now. A protest was held which is over. We are all positioned here with our team. On the request of the university, we have come here. We are trying to maintain peace," he said.

According to the JNUSU, the ABVP allegedly abused "muscle power and goondaism to create a ruckus by manhandling students and asking them not to prepare non-vegetarian food.
