After former TMC MLA Sonali Guha, who switched to the BJP, wrote to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee requesting to be taken back into the party, former Trinamool Congress turncoat Sarala Murmu has requested re-entry into the TMC. Murmu switched to the BJP before the Assembly elections as she was unhappy with the ticket given to her.

Claiming it to be a mistake, Murmu said she wanted Banerjee to pardon her.

"If she accepts me, I will stay with her and work for the party diligently," Ms Murmu said. Though Murmu was nominated from Habibpur in Malda, she was keen on contesting from Maldaha constituency.

"I committed a mistake and want Didi (Ms Banerjee) to pardon me for that," she said.
