An Air India Express flight, IX-1676, that arrived from Doha lost control and hit a light pole while landing at the Vijayawada International Airport on Saturday. The 64 passengers in the flight, as well as crew, have landed safely.

The flight proceeding from runway to Bay number five hit the high mask lights pole, which broke and fell. The flight wing has been slightly damaged. Explaining the cause of the accident, Airport director G Madhusudan Rao said, "…While the flight was proceeding from runway to bay number five, the captain followed leading margin (yellow) line instead of the central yellow line. As a result, the flight's right-wing hit the high mask lights pole."

The flight from Doha was headed to Vijayawada and then to Trichy. Forty-five passengers have now headed for Trichy. The Airline authorities have ordered an investigation into the accident.
