New Delhi: Despite being an ally of the Congress in a larger pool of opposition parties against the BJP, the chief of the National Congress Party's recent statements seemed to dismiss the remarks made by the opposition parties against the BJP and PM Modi.

After publicly supporting Gautam Adani, which became controversial later, despite opposition parties such as Congress and TMC lambasting him in Parliament over alleged connections between the billionaire and the BJP, Pawar has now questioned the need for a discussion over PM Modi's degree.

The NCP chief is said to have questioned whether anyone's educational degree should become a political issue in the country, given the current challenges of unemployment, law and order, and inflation.

Instead of discussing the increased division among people on the basis of religion and caste and the destruction of crops due to unseasonal rains in Maharashtra, he added, debating someone's degree does not yield any results.

In response to being fined Rs 25,000 by the Gujarat High Court for an RTI plea regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's degrees, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted on March 30th, asking whether the country did not have the right to know how educated their Prime Minister was.

Kejriwal questioned why there was objection to showing the Prime Minister's degree in court, and expressed concern that those who demanded to see the degree would also be fined. He also stated that an illiterate or less-educated Prime Minister could be very dangerous for the country.

Shehzad Poonawalla, a spokesperson for the BJP, responded to Pawar's statement on the social media platform Twitter. He wondered whether leaders of Congress, Uddhav Sena, or AAP would attack Pawar again and insult him, despite the recent controversy over the RTI plea on the Prime Minister's degree. Poonawalla expressed hope that these leaders would listen to the Gujarat High Court and their own allies.
