New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged the AIMIM chief, Asaduddin Owaisi who declined the Central Govt offered 'Z' security cover, to accept the offered security, considering the intelligence on the threat to him.

Shah while reading out a statement in the Rajya Sabha said that the government had the intimation of Owaisi's refusal of security, which was offered after threat assessment by the central agencies.

"I request him to accept the security given to him by the Centre," Shah said in the Parliament.

Responding to the incident where two assailants had fired at a vehicle in which Asaduddin Owaisi was travelling in on February 3 in the Hapur district, the Home Minister said that the government had no clue about Owaisi's movement through the area.

An FIR has been lodged on the basis of eyewitnesses against two persons who had fired at Owaisi's vehicle. Though, Owaisi escaped unhurt and three bullets marks were found on his vehicle, Shah said.

Two people had been arrested so far and police had recovered two pistols and also seized a Maruti Alto car. "The accused are being interrogated... police have visited the spot," Shah said, underlining, ahead of elections in the state, that "law and order is under control in UP".
