Hyderabad: Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Jagan Mohan Reddy got injured after an unidentified person hurled a stone, hitting him, while he was campaigning in Vijayawada, NDTV reported.

The stone hit the CM on his head, precisely above his left eyebrow, narrowly missing his eye. Reports stated that two stitches were required for the wound.

Jagan, the YSR Congress Party chief, was on a bus on Saturday while campaigning as part of his Memantha Siddham Bus Yatra. The campaign’s title loosely translates as “We are ready”.

Party sources said that the stone was hurled from a nearby school and alleged that the attack was a conspiracy by the TDP alliance. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, who was a former chief minister, is showing nervousness, the source added.

In a video, the chief minister was standing on the vehicle and greeting crowds gathered on the sides of the road. Then the video is cut to the shot where the CM is holding his hand up to his left eye while one of the people near him is dabbing his left eyebrow with a cloth. The CM could then be seen greeting the crowd with folded hands before climbing the bus, NDTV briefs.

It is learnt that doctors treated him inside the bus before he continued the campaign.

In Andhra Pradesh, where there are 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly seats, polls will be held on May 13 for both. In 2019, the YSRCP won 151 Assembly seats and 22 Lok Sabha seats. However, this time, the ruling party must face an alliance with the TDP, BJP, and the Jana Sena.
