Hyderabad: A mob of about 50 to 80 individuals abducted a 24-year-old dentistry student from her home on Friday in Adibatla, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, just hours before her engagement. The mob, which arrived in four cars and a truck, attacked the family and vandalised her home in Turkayamjal.

M Vaishali Reddy's family filed a complaint against K Naveen Reddy, accusing him of stalking and upsetting her, even though the Rachakonda police had already freed her by Friday night. As of yet, 16 persons have been detained by the police after they filed a case on charges of kidnapping, attempted murder, trespassing, etc., Indian Express reported.

Social media users widely shared the video of the incident, which happened at around 11.30 am while the family was getting ready for Vaishali's engagement in an adjacent function hall.

Police said that Vaishali and Naveen first met a few months ago and that he then proposed to her family. The parents, though, apparently opposed the match.

Vaishali's house was just across from where Naveen, the owner of a beverage franchise, was building a new location. After the Friday event, her family members used earth movers to ransack the demolished branch.

Vaishali was saved within six hours of the event, according to Rachakonda police. A policeman stated that they were looking into other possibilities, including unconfirmed rumours that Naveen had claimed to have wed Vaishali and that she had expressed a desire to live with him in defiance of her parents.
