Badaun: Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday night arrested the main accused in the gang rape and murder of an anganvadi worker here.
Temple priest Sathya Narayanan was apprehended in a late-night crackdown as he was hiding in a nearby village.
District Magistrate Kumar Prashant confirmed the arrest saying the accused was held in a midnight crackdown.
Police had earlier held two others in the case in which a woman was gang-raped and succumbed.
The woman who had gone to the temple on January 3 didn't turn up. Later, the temple priest and two others brought the woman's body to her home.
An autopsy later confirmed the rape, leading to arrest of the culprits.
