New Delhi: Srikanth Tyagi, who claimed to be a member of BJP's Kisan Morcha, is on the run after the BJP distanced itself from him as Tygai is wanted by police for allegedly assaulting a woman resident at the Grand Omaxe Society in Sector-93 B in Noida.

Days after the incident, authorities along with police personnel took bulldozers to the housing society to pull down the illegal structure at the property of Srikanth Tyagi, according to NDTV.

It all began after an argument broke out between the self-proclaimed Kisan Morch member Tyagi and a woman at the Grand Omaxe Society. The woman objected to Tyagi's planting of the saplings citing a violation of the rules.

Videos of Tyagi hurling abuse and assaulting the woman went viral, subsequently, a few of Tyagi's supporters came to the housing society shouting slogans and asking for the details of the woman.

As the incident went out of hand, Tyagi posted photos of him with senior BJP leaders to support his claim of being a member of BJP's Kisan Morcha. BJP however distanced itself from Tyagi.

Noida District Magistrate Suhas LY, who came to the Grand Omaxe residential complex along with Noida Police chief Alok Kumar Singh, said the Noida administration will attach Mr Tyagi's property.

Mr Tyagi has since then been on the run and police are searching for him.

BJP leader and MP Mahesh Sharma censured police about how Tyagi's supporters entered a housing society and threatened residents.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also sought Mr Tyagi's arrest.
