Kolkata:The Calcutta High Court took on record the rejoinder filed by Advocate General Kishore Datta in response to the affidavit-in-reply filed by the CBI in the Narada scam case.

Additional Solicitor General Y.J Dastoor sought the High Court to adjourn the matter for 10 days citing that the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was busy with certain important matters before the Supreme Court, reported Live Law.

A five Judge Bench comprising Justices IP Mukherjee, Harish Tandon, Soumen Sen, Arijit Banerjee, and acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal adjourned the hearing to September 13 at 11 am for oral arguments.

Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal noted that the Supreme Court had recently advocated speedy justice. He added that the time given for oral arguments must be limited and if required a written note containing arguments may be permitted to be filed before the Court.

The HC bench had earlier refused to take the affidavits on record saying that they waited for the arguments in the case to be substantially completed before seeking to place on record their pleadings in response. The Supreme Court set aside the order.

The affidavits detailed the law and order situation in the State on May 17, when the Trinamool Congress leaders were arrested.

The court has set the next hearing on September 13.
