In a country where women being assaulted, mentally harassed, killed and driven to suicide, due to this banned regressive system, a lesson on the benefits of dowry has widely been criticised.

Social media wondered what messages the textbook giving to the youngsters in society through materials like this. Shockingly, the supposed reading material for the nursing students also claims it has been prepared as per the Indian Nursing Council syllabus.

One of the social media users who called out the statements in the textbook was Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi. Tagging Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Twitter, she urged the minister to remove such books from circulation that like-content in curriculum is a "shame".
