New Delhi: The CBI has requested for the Ethics Committee report from the Lok Sabha Secretariat to continue investigation into the charges against Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra, The Indian Express reported.

Ethics Committee recommended Moitra’s expulsion from Parliament in the Parliament cash-for-query charges against her.

However, the Lok Sabha Secretariat reportedly has not taken a decision on the request.

The report quoting the source said: "The CBI has written to the Secretariat seeking a copy of the Ethics Committee report. We will look into it. We have not made a decision yet."

Moitra has been accused of handing the password details of her Parliament login to Hiranandani from whom she has been alleged to have accepted cash.

However, Moitra told The Indian Express that she had handed password details but denied having taken money.

The central agency is probing the complaint on the allegations against Moitra sent to it by the Lokpal.

The CBI can register an FIR and continue probe into the “criminal conduct” against Moitra in the event of Lok Sabha Secretariat handing over the Ethics Committee report to the agency giving sanction under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, according to the report.

Approving the Ethics Committee report, the Lok Sabha recommended the expulsion of TMC leader over ‘unethical conduct’ and ‘serious misdemeanours’.

Meanwhile, the committee suggested the government conduct a time-bound, ‘intense, legal, institutional inquiry’ into her ‘highly objectionable, unethical, heinous and criminal conduct,’ according to the report.
