Bengaluru: Karnataka has been in the news for some time now, mainly because of the communal bigotry is being played on a range of from hijab to halal meat to restrictions on Muslim traders.

However, the issues targeting minority community in the state could help satisfy the hardcore Hindus, there is more to do to win the mass-is the message the Central BJP leadership signals to the state government.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who returned to the state after a visit to Delhi, has reportedly been told to focus more on developments than involving in divisive matters, according to The Indian Express.

A reshuffle of the cabinet will be happening soon, but the central leadership ruled out an early assembly election. The BJP leadership is said to have had their final word on the list the CM Bommai had submitted for the reshuffle.

"Instead, they suggested that the party restructure itself while the government, after the reshuffle, must focus on governance aspects," a source said, adding that among the projects Bommai was told to focus on were irrigation works, in order to win back farmers who have been upset with the state government.

Bommai was suggested governance must see overall overhaul after the cabinet rejig, that there are areas where the government should give more importance.

The party sources are sure that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants the BJP should face the election with a progress report of development.
