Class 10 student dies following attack from classmates belonging to another community in UP

Prayagraj: A 16-year-old boy, a Class 10 student, lost his life after his fellow classmates, belonging to a different community, allegedly beat him over a dispute on Monday.

The dispute that led to the unfortunate event had initially erupted within the school premises but had seemingly been resolved by the intervention of teachers.

However, matters took a dark turn when the victim was heading home accompanied by his cousin, a Class 9 student from the same school. Allegedly, the accused students targeted the boy's cousin with lewd comments and harassment, prompting the victim to come to her defence.

This led to a brutal confrontation during which the accused individuals reportedly attacked the victim, ultimately resulting in his demise.

Law enforcement officials have taken three suspects into custody for questioning, as investigations into the incident continue. Authorities have refuted initial rumours of harassment, emphasizing that the incident stemmed from a dispute among students.

The local community's anger over the incident spilt onto the streets, with road blockades and store closures reflecting the escalating tension. To maintain order, police forces were deployed to the scene, striving to restore calm after this heart-wrenching incident.
