Indian National Congress, on Monday, launched a nationwide campaign called 'Join Congress Media'. The campaign intends to form five lakh cyber warriors and fight the BJP on social media. The former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi said the 'paid troll army' spread hatred in the country and that it is high time to resist it.

He called out on the youth to look around at the harassments and the ravage on the 'idea' of India. "As a young person, you know what is going on. Nothing is hidden from you, in your schools, colleges and universities, you can see the oppression, you can see the attack on the idea of India," he said in his video tweet. "Look outside Delhi; you can see what is happening to the farmers. The backbone of this war on the nation is a troll army; thousands of people who spread hatred and anger and are paid to do so. We also need warriors to defend liberal values, to defend the ideas of compassion, peace, harmony and affection".

The Congress leader added that the social media army would be the 'army of truth' to defend the idea of India and not to spread hatred or violence.

AICC social media chief Rohan Gupta and AICC in-charge (administration) Pawan Kumar Bansal and party spokesman Pawan Khera stated that people could join the initiative through the party's website, a toll-free number or through WhatsApp.
