New Delhi: Anil Antony, who quit the Congress to join the BJP last week, said the grand old party in Kerala is ‘cut off from realities’.

The son of Congress veteran AK Antony was responding to a state congress leader’s call to unfollow Anil Antony on Twitter.

Earlier in a tweet, the Working President of Congress in Kerala, T Siddique, asked his party members to unfollow Anil, according to NDTV.

Anil responded to the call by saying that people on Twitter make informed opinions sharing ideas and views of others.

"People are generally in Twitter to follow views - across the spectrum , to get some idea and information of what different people think. This could help to make informed opinions. When you unfollow everyone with different views and just keep listening to everyone with similar views - would turn out to be a wonderful echo chamber cut off from realities - one of the main reasons @INCKerala is where it is now," he reportedly said.

Anil Antony, who worked for digital campaigns of the Congress, came to limelight after questioning BBC's documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Later he stated he was impressed by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Anil Antony earlier came down heavily on the Congress saying that Congress workers were working for a family but he believed in working for the country.

He also praised what he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of putting ‘India in a leading place in a multi-polar world’.

His father and former Defence Minister AK Antony called his son’s leaving the party a "wrong decision" and a "very painful".
