Congress leader Sunil Jakhar quits via Facebook live, Good luck and goodbye Congress

Chandigarh: Former Punjab state president Sunil Jakhar, on Saturday, announced his decision to quit the party during a Facebook live. The three-time MLA and one-time MP was given a show-cause notice last month by the disciplinary action committee of the Congress for "not toeing the party line".

Jakhar while on the live advised the Gandhi family to differentiate between friend and foe and between assets and liability. He also criticized the way he was issued the show-cause notice, to which he has not formally replied. He blamed senior Congress leader Ambika Soni for remarking that Punjab should not have a Hindu chief minister, which according to him has put a "blot on Punjab, Sikhs and Sikhi and defamed and insulted Hindus." He added "Is there any point that such leaders remain in the Congress?"

Congress leader also targeted Harish Chaudhary, the Punjab Congress in-charge, Harish Rawat, the former state in-charge and Tariq Anwar in his video. "And see who has issued a show-cause notice to me! Tariq Anwar, a man who switched to the NCP demanding that a woman of foreign origin cannot be the PM,'' he said.

Referring to the 3-day Chintan Shivir' (Brainstorming Session) in Rajasthan, Jakhar said that the Congress instead of organising a Chintan Shivir, needed to hold a 'chinta shivir'.

He ending the video saying, "good luck and goodbye Congress".

According to The Indian Express, Jakhar had removed all references to the Congress in his social media accounts hours before his address.
