New Delhi: The Centre on Friday said it is ‘coordinating’ with Russian authorities to secure the release of Indians being duped into military service for Russia’s Ukraine war, according to NDTV.

Reports on Thursday said that dozens of unsuspecting Indians have been allegedly enlisted in the Russian army after promising them with support jobs, NDTV reported.

Indians were ultimately enlisted in the army following misleading translations of documents before undergoing military training against their initial understanding, according to the report.

‘We are aware that a few Indian nationals have signed up for support jobs with the Russian army. The Indian Embassy has regularly taken up this matter with the relevant Russian authorities for their early discharge. We urge all Indian nationals to exercise due caution and stay away from this conflict,’ said Randhir Jaiswal, external affairs spokesperson, was quoted as saying.

The family of one of the men, Sufiyan from Hyderabad, along with AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi urged the Centre to secure the safe evacuation of enlisted Indian nationals.

They sought the government to take action against the fraudulent agents involved in it.

Sufiyan's brother Imran brought to fore deceptive tactics of agents who promised support jobs which eventually have them allegedly enlisted in the Russian army.

It is reported that nine Indian nationals are within Ukraine borders where the war is raging on.

Meanwhile, distressed families of these men sought the government to ensure their safe return.

Meanwhile, Owaisi formally sought the intervention of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to bring back the affected Indians.
