Representational.

In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases and increasing Omicron infections, several state governments have again upped the restrictions, otherwise relaxed after cases went down. While the Maharashtra government has imposed prohibitory order banning assembly of 5 or more from 9 pm to 6 am starting from Saturday, the Gujarat government has extended the duration of the night curfew in eight cities by two hours from 11 pm to 5 am instead of the earlier 1 am to 5 am.

Haryana, too, has imposed a night curfew starting from December 25 till January 5th, expecting a surge during this holiday season.

Restrictions have been imposed on gatherings and public spaces in several states, and an upper limit has been imposed for any sort of celebration. In Haryana, the government has also mandated that only fully vaccinated people be allowed in public offices.
