The CPM joins hands with the Congress for the forthcoming elections in West Bengal. The party has had electoral understating in Assam and in Tamil Nadu, and now it will be part of the DMK-led alliance.
They restrict the decision to West Bengal. In Kerala, they will continue to contest election as part of the LDF. "In West Bengal, CPM and the left front will have an electoral understanding, including the Congress which seeks to defeat the BJP and Trinamool Congress", party general secretary Yechuri said.
When questioned about the Kerala gold smuggling case, Yechury said "Let the investigation go on, the government has suspended Mr Sivasankar, he is an IAS officer. If he has done any mistake, he should be put before the law." He also said if Bineesh Kodiyeri is the culprit, he should be punished.
He also claimed that BJP is targeting the states where opposition parties are in power using central agencies. Congress and BJP together are attacking the Kerala Government.
The CPM will protest at national levels for the Covid crisis, the rising price of essential good, unemployment etc.
