Dakshina Kannada: Muslim boy gets thrashed for talking to Hindu girl

Bengaluru: The police informed that a Muslim male student of Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district got beaten by his college mates for speaking with a Hindu girl, The Indian Express reported.

The victim was identified as Mohammed Sanif, aged 19, a resident of Jalsoor village. The boy got assaulted inside college premises around 10:30 in the morning of Tuesday, at Kasaba village under the Sullia taluk, police informed.

They narrated that the youth was having a chat with one of his friends, a girl from a Hindu community and a student of the college before some other students interfered.

The accused, Prajwal, Tanuj, Akshay, Mokshith, and Gautam, along with others, called Sanif to the ground and attacked him with wooden logs. They asked him about his conversation with the girl and threatened to thrash him if he spoke with her again.

When the girl tried to help Sanif, the group questioned her, scolded her and took photos on mobile phones, threatening that they would make it viral.

Sanif got admitted to the Sullia government hospital for treatment, while local police registered a case and initiated a probe into the matter. The accused in the case were yet to be arrested.
